Class Q success with 453 sq metre conversion in South Yorkshire

Class Q success with 453 sq metre conversion in South Yorkshire

Prism Agriculture Ltd was granted Class Q approval for the conversion of a large redundant agricultural building to form a large 6-bedroom dwelling with 453 square metres of floorspace in South Yorkshire

The proposed conversion building was previously used as part of a former Council owned dairy farm within the South Yorkshire Green Belt.

The traditional stone building sections with oak beams, oak trusses and a slate roof were originally built in the 1800s and formed a threshing barn, traditional dairy parlour and livestock housing, a brick lean-to addition at the rear formed the collection yard and cattle stalls.

The conversion will make use of existing and previously blocked up openings to add windows and doors, the roof of the main section will be re-slated, a lightweight standing seam roof will replace the roof on the rear brick addition and replace corrugated asbestos sheeting on the single storey section.

The permission was secured under Class Q of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order, which allows for the conversion of redundant agricultural buildings to form 'up to' five dwellings, subject to the proposals meeting a set criteria.
